VALUE 

PROPOSITION

The value propositions of the project are mentioned below:

• In terms of the parameters of the Geometric Design in ground and elevation, the designated area was respected as far as possible to minimise any intervention in the surrounding environment. Project speeds were modified to improve connectivity, scenic contemplation, protection of the environment and ecosystems. Furthermore some sectors were left for snow clearing and to create contention works and to blend in with the environment.
• Regarding Sanitation and Drainage, drainage elements were established to guarantee the functionality of the route.
• With respect to the Economic Evaluation, flows and analysis of profitability alternatives were estimated.
• For Road Safety, certain elements were incorporated in the project in accordance with the conditions of the site and the risks specific to the area (slopes, rain, snow etc) Furthermore stopping zones were created which contribute to user safety and also enhance the scenic route.
• The Torres del Paine Road Circuit was promoted and proposed, in order to contribute to the scenic contemplation of the area. With that in mind, complementary works to facilitate this were designed, considering panoramic aspects, native flora and fauna, mountains, cultural attractions, etc.
• The creation of a network of panoramic viewpoints and stopping zones was considered.
• Environmental Mitigation and Evaluations were carried out, from the beginning to the end of the study, according to the demands of the local authority and the Ministry of Public Works. In addition, an Environmental Liabilities restoration plan was carried out (embankments, outages, river containment works, dumps, etc.).
• The Environmental and Territorial Diagnosis and the environment in which the project was taking place were also taken into account.
